I'm staying overnight at two colleges this week, and I was wondering if it's customary to get a little gift to give to the student who hosts you. If so, what?

there are threads about this already-some people think it's fine/the right thing to do, while others think it's not necessary. at the end of the day, it's all up to you. A silly question Gift for overnight host?

When my son was staying overnite, we got a "basket" of goodies for the host-cookies, muffins, candy etc-something small but something which just said thanks, we appreciate your hospitality. I don't think its expected, but it is nice to do.
