I'm a little uneducated about Brown's academic setting. I know they have an open curriculum, and that seems awesome--one of the major reasons i applied, but I'm wondering if this system hurts the job placement or graduate school placement for graduates. If I'm going to major in economics with the intention of going into finance and working on wall street, will Brown help me get internships or into an MBA program? Do lots of banks or finance companies recruit from Brown?

I'm going to Brown next fall (I'm incredibly excited!) and I'm considering law school after undergrad. Just out of curiosity, do many Brown grads go onto top law schools? I know here is some kind of pre-law advising program - do students find it helpful?

A lot of companies, and law schools, love that Brown students graduate so well-educated with the broad and self-driven open curriculum.

I get emails from Goldman-Sachs (not personal emails) all the time...I'm like GO AWAY ART MAJOR. So yes they recruit here.

A good friend of mine is pre-law, and she's doing great. In fact many. Brown's open curriculum doesn't hurt at allllll.

brown will help you get internship at wall street firms, yes.. in a sense that you're better off if you go to brown vs. Podunk U. but, at the end of the day, the demand to break into the finance industry has reached astronomical numbers in most Ivy League schools, IMO. so it is more important for you to be aware about how competitive you are vs. your brown peers -- as opposed to wondering how much does Brown can help you.

yeah, brown opens many doors, but the path through that door is damn crowded.

and MBA? oh boy you're thinking way ahead. by the time you're applying to MBA programs, your work experience and performance probably matters more than your undergraduate diploma.

brown is not very preprofessional or business minded, just so you know. like if you want to go to wharton, brown's not a good second choice. it's a fru-fru la dee da let's learn things university (that will also place in you a great job). which is FANTASTIC.
