Do I have any shot at Brown?

I'm going into senior year in a competitive suburban school district.

- GPA: 3.95.
- Top 10% of class.
- Very Low SATI: 1720 and low SATII: 630 math. 650 bio (taking SATI & more SATII's again)
- Senior Schedule: AP Chem., Economics, College Spanish, AP Psych, AP Music Theory, Contemporary Lit., Govt RE
- I've many taken AP and College classes sophomore and junior years and gotten A's in all except AP US.
- My essay is very good. (It was editted)
- I assume my recommendations are good (one from a Brown University professor)
- My possible majors include: Psych, Criminology, Law, Genetics & minors possibly Spanish, Music, or Forensics.

EC:
- I volunteer at Smithhaven Animal Hospital. Approximately 3 hours every week.. (I am thinking about maybe going into veterinary)
- I play baseball for a top ranked travel team on Long Island. I played HS baseball as well.
- I play piano/ sing and write my own music. I've wrote 2 songs so far, and I'm in the process of writing another. I take lessons weekly.
- I run Fitness Classes at a gym 4 hours per week.

ACC.
- I got inducted into the NFLHS (National Foriegn Language Honor Society) for Spanish.
- I also got into the NHS (National Honor Society) for overall achievement.
- I recieved honorable mention at the Business Olympics 2007 for writing a radio commercial.
- I had two of my songs selected to be played on WUSB radio station.
- I completed a 2-week mini-course program at Boston University. I took Intro to Business & Criminal Justice
- I completed a 3-week course (Genetics and Human Behavior) at Brown University. I got 9 hours of lab work working with my own DNA.

All of the Ivies are crapshoots obviously. To improve ur chances, u should try to bump up your SAT to around 2100-2300. Good luck!

Your majors are too professional for most of the Ivy League which give more "all-encompassing" or "liberal arts" kinds of majors. A 1720 is simply too low, and I don't see anything that counters it. Your ECs are average-looking, and those sumer classes that are ability-to-pay-based, as opposed to merit-based do little to supplement your application. If you can raise that SAT to a 2100 (which, I'm sorry to admit, is extremely unlikely unless you took the test on your deathbed) Brown might be a reasonable reach. As it stands, your chances are extremely low. If you do get in, it is probably something that we can't see on this internet post.

Try taking the ACT. Many students do better on it. Best of luck!
