My daughter got her waitlist reply in today's mail. Unfortunately, she was not accepted. Admissions told me when I called this morning that the letters will all be in the mail by week's end. I guess she was right.

Oh crap.

Guess it's time for me to emerge from my deluded dreams of attending Brown this fall.

My daughter received her rejection letter today. Although Brown was her first choice, she was admitted to Princeton. Her father who went to Brown would choose Princeton over Brown. I wonder how many spots were open on the waitlist. One thing is certain our donations to Brown are over.

Are you guys all on the east coast? I didn't get anything today. I'm guessing tomorrow will be the day though.

Class of 2014 is completely booked. They have sent out 20 acceptances for the class of 2015. I have gotten one. They send one letter and one certificate. They say that no one will be accepted to the class of 2014 from the waiting list. It is dated 21st May. They did not e-mail or call about the acceptance, letter in the mail.

The letter

'On April 1st, I promised your application would be considered for any available position in the incoming class. As of today, the responses we have received from accepted students have filled our available spaces, and we are unable to offer you a place in the Class of 2014. Your academic, extra-curricular, and personal accomplishments have impressed the Board of Admission, however, and we would like to offer you a place at Brown in the Class of 2015, entering in the fall of fall 2011.

We truly hope you will give serious consideration to our offer. You are one of the very small number of students to whom we felt compelled to make an offer. While having to wait a year before entering Brown may present unexpected options and opportunities you should know that many students take time off before or during their academic careers and find the experience thoroughly enjoyable. Almost 40 members of the Class of 2014 have already chosen to defer their enrollment by one year. We are confident that you can usethe next year to successfully engage in the many opportunities available to students pursuing a gap year - work, tavel, volunteer, perfect a skill and/or pursue an internship.

If you accept our offer to join the class of 2015, please be aware that you are not permitted to enroll at another college or university as a full time student next year, nor are you permitted to apply to another institution. In addition, we expect that you will not hold a place at another college and will withdraw from any college at which you are currently intending to marticulate.

Please contact us if you have any questions - followed by email IDs and phone numbers.

International student. I just thought I would let people know that noone is going to Brown from the waitlist for the class of 2014.
