Bryn Mawr

I am looking at Bryn Mawr as a potiential school to transfer to. I have a couple of questions:

1. Are the students into learning and academics/ serious about academics?
2. How is the social scene? is there a big party/drug culture and are kids more into doing other things to have fun?

I am looking for a student body of smart intellectual down to earth kids that value more than just partying and drinking and hooking up with every guy they meet.

3. How is the music/ theater depts/ choirs?

4. How is Jewish life?

Thank you so much.

1. Yes.

2. There are not a lot of parties on campus. Large parties (with more than 20 or so people) have to be registered with the college and we only had two of them last semester, a third one got canceled due to lack of interest... There is not really a lot to do on campus, especially on weekends. Sometimes the college shows a movie or invites artists, but other than that you have to go off-campus for entertainment. What you do is completely up to you: you can go party at Swarthmore or Penn, you can watch a movie at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute, you can go into Philly or you can just hang out in the campus center or the dorms (you can even go to bed early - the dorms are usually quiet) or in the library finishing a paper. The most heavily used drug on campus is caffeine Some people smoke, some people drink, but there is no big drug scene.

i applied ed to Bryn Mawr so I'll be going there next year. Obviously i'm not the best source of information, but from my research/ what people have told me, this seems like a perfect school for you.

I know there are tons of a capella groups and if you go on Bryn Mawr's activities page on the website, you can see the various theatre troupes and whatnot.

also, i'm pretty sure there are at least a few Jewish groups on campus.
