I'm very much interested in Bryn Mawr to the point where I'm considering applying ED, however, one of the two factors preventing me from doing so is financial aid. Since Bryn Mawr's ED policy is binding, I would have to attend Bryn Mawr even if I can't afford it (depending on how much the financial aid office would give me). How does Bryn Mawr's financial aid compare to Wellesley, Barnard, or Claremont McKenna? I'm told that Wellesley will do what they can to meet 100% of your financial needs, however, the same isn't said for the other above mentioned LACs.

Most good colleges meet 100% of need. The problem is just with how they define "need". Given the same financial circumstances, one college might decide that you can contribute $10,000 a year and another one thinks that $17,000 is reasonable. And maybe your family could shell out $17,000, but wouldn't it be great to have the option to choose the $10,000 offer instead? That's why students are encouraged not to apply ED if finances are an issue.

Enough hypothetical scenarios. In my year many students complained about how Bryn Mawr's financial aid package was lower than every other offer they got. Then last year a *lot* of incoming students raved about Bryn Mawr's generous financial aid package. The level of generosity seems to change every year and it is hard to predict how it will play out for you. Personally, I think that being able to compare financial aid offers is very important and I would not give up that right.
