I am not aware of any film production opportunities at Bryn Mawr, but I am not active in the arts area.
I agree that the commute is inconvenient but it can be done. I have been at Penn 4-5 days a week this semester, 2 days for classes and 2-3 days to work and socialize with classmates. Penn is easier to commute to than Swarthmore. There is a train into Philly every 10-30 minutes, depending on the time of the day. That's more frequently than the Blue Bus runs to Haverford and definitely more convenient than the once-every-90-minutes van to Swarthmore.
I would like to point out that Penn classes start a week earlier than Bryn Mawr classes in the spring. If your D is marginally interested in classes at Penn, she could return early from winter break and attend the first week of classes at Penn without losing her options to take classes at Bryn Mawr. If she does not like them, she can attend her Bryn Mawr classes the next week.
