Choice Dorms?

My daughter is considering the "Choice" dorm option. She is an outgoing girl who is very friendly with every type of student in her HS; however, she does not spend much time on weekends with HS friends because most of the activities revolve around drinking and some drug use. She is not judgmental... just feels the drinking/drug scene is not for her. I have told her that living in the regular dorms she would surely find friends with similar interests and values... Frankly, I think her biggest concern is having a "wild and crazy" roommate. On the other hand, she doesn't want to alienate students who enjoy the "party scene".

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Although I do not go to Bucknell (just got accepted and am really considering it) my sister is part of Bucknell's choice housing. From what I have heard, she really loves the environment. She knows students in the system who participate in drinking and partying (although not her- she is the stereotypical adorable engineer), but they love coming back to a dorm that is relatively quiet. If you want your daughter to have a great college experience, choice housing could be a great option.

However, I will admit, I would not necessarily choose to participate if I decided to attend (and I, too, do not party or use drugs - although still maintain an active social calendar). It seems in years past choice housing does not always get the best dorms and has been decreasing in size.

Seattle, a very delayed thanks for the info! My daughter is actually leaning towards the Residential Colleges now but she is still not 100% sure. I wish we would have been able to attend the Admitted students day on Saturday because I know that there were presentations on the Res colleges and that would have been really helpful to her.
