| How about Washington University in St. Louis?
Edit: Also, is there a huge difference then between someone that goes to NYU Stern for Finance and someone that goes to NYU for Econ? If admitted to both (and you liked both majors equally) which would be the better move? |

| I have a question: Can I really get any chance at top notch IBanks if I come out from a top LAC and major in Economics? |

| Yes, one can get a job with an IBank no matter what university they attend. However, there are very few strategic campuses that attract many top IBanks. |

| I can't believe that UVa gets no mention. It's certainly worth mentioning over UCB for UNDERGRAD, and I can't be biased. I'm from California. |

| futurenyustudent, Cal's Econ department is one of the top 5 in the nation. As a person who carefully analyzes Econ departments, I can tell you that Cal is better than UVa when it comes to Econ. |

| Ranks are subjective and arbitrary. I'm not relying only on rankings. |

| Well regardless of what rankings say, UVa has a top-notch econ department and deserves some mention.
the undergrad vs. grad argument ends RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW. |

| No, I was under the impression we were discussing top Econ programs...programs that prouce the best undergraduate Econ majors. I was not aware this thread was about undergraduate education. |

| For me, the top 3 econ (undergrad) schools in the US are:
UC Berkeley / Harvard / Princeton
the top 5 econ (either undergrad or grad) schools in the WORLD are:
Cambridge / UC Berkeley / Harvard / Oxford / LSE / Princeton |

| If UCSD is on your list then so should UCSB be. UCSB has people who won the Nobel prize in economics. |
