My plan right now is to get a Masters of Science in Finance after I get my BS in Accounting. I do not intend to become a CPA, but I am curious about whether any of the courses I take for the MSF will count toward the education requirement to sit for the CPA exam. The reason I ask is because the financial services industry is being hit pretty hard right now and will continue to for a while longer, and having the option to become a CPA if I need to would be a good fall back option; hopefully things will have recovered and start heading up again in a few years when I graduate.
Each state is different.
To qualify in Florida, you'd need 150 credits. With 36 above intro/principles, 6 of business law and 33 other business credits. I know in Maryland, they have specific discipline requirements which can be met easily at the undergraduate level.
For other states, check Beckercpa.com and the state licensing agency.
