econ major math minor or simply econ major

is the minor worth it? i dont want to do a major in math, but i can handle the minor. I don't wwant to do it if it's useless.

Depends what you are doing with it. Also if you want to learn more math it can't hurt.

A math minor will greatly help if you ever go to grad school for econ or finance.

Also, some business firms (especially i-banks and consulting firms) look highly upon math majors/minors, since they want a job candidate to have demonstrated "comfort with numbers" and quantitative aptitude.

It's not useless in an intrinsic sense. Your quantitative thinking will likely be greatly improved (compared to just taking the required amount of math through a core). It's not like you can't change or drop your minor if you really don't like it.
