I got accepted to Texas A&M back in November and is just waiting for the Business Honors there and still waiting on UT Mccombs... can anyone comment on the quality of the business school at A&M? I see that they made significant jumps in the rankings these past few years. How is the education and job prospect? Thanks.

It all depends on what u plan on majoring in. Accounting is the strongest for mays and do acct ur garanteed a job. However, if ur interested in banking then Texas is a far greater choive because few banks recruit at mays. If u got anymore questions about mays let me know

Well, first off this is a decision that you will have to live with for the rest of your life (being an Aggie or a Longhorn) so if you are a better fit for A&M, I'd go there regardless. Obviously you will have more opportunities from McCombs though. A&M's business school has improved a lot over the last 15 years and there aren't many schools in the state, public or private, that are better. Also, Aggies are fiercely loyal...perhaps moreso than alumni from any other school in the country. Unfortunately, A&M is much more represented in engineering than in business.

I've also wondered about the same question...A&M has a better alumni network than say UT. But is the job opportunities solid for say acct or finance?
and also I am planning on double majoring, which of the 2 combos will be best: acct, mgnt, finance?

mays has a special program called the professional program that allows to get undergrad in acct and masters in finance thats the best to go because u r garenteed a job when u graduate

the program adds an extra year to ur school so 5 years u appl fall of ur junior year and basically its acconting based but some people get offers with consulting firms and i-banks in houston and dallas its a really good opprtunity but the classes are really hard

well u can do both the way honors work is that u take certain number of honor classes i think is 6 business courses and and a couple general honors courses but u can still specialize in major most poeple. In my opinion the professional program is better. but in terms of recruitingits about the same.

it depends how many ap and dual credits do u have and they say it is but as long u have 3.4 gpa or higher and a B in Intermediate ACCT u will get in

Getting internships would be far more valuable than taking summer classes.
