Internship for Accounting/Information System major

hey all

i am a prospective accounting and information system major. i am currently in my sophmore year and i am thinking about doing some internship during the winter break (dec/jan).

i go to a small public university in a small town so there are not any big companies overhere.

i was wondering what kind of firms or places i should look into for internship. i would really like to get some real life experiences and gain valuable skills that will help me in the long run.

can you guys suggest me some thing that incorporates both the accouting and information system?? or any one of both.

i am currently thinking about talking to some of the accounting firms or chamber of commerce or some grocery stores, but i am not sure about that. i want to do something that will help me gain experience as well as something that will look good on my resume too.

feel free to throw your thoughts

thanks

Good Luck

I'm a junior Finance major at Kent State and have found it extremely hard to find internships before the end of your 3rd year. I know there are some out there, but they seem to be few and far between. Good luck on your hunt.

I had a TA that double specialized in those two and she said that it was hard to find an internship that spanned both, and she basically chose to do an IS internship. If you have a technical background it might be easier to find an MIS internship since you're pretty young. most accounting firms won't look at you until you're a 3rd year.
