big 4 auditing or a back office job at a BB?

Hi there,

I am a graduating senior majoring in finance and accounting. I received an offer from a big 4 accounting firm for audit position (for financial companies) as well as a first year analyst position in operations dept of a bulge bracket bank. Both jobs are for the main NY office.

salary is not a major factor in my decision making. which position do you think will provide me with a better understanding of financial world, and open doors to more exit opps after 4-5 years of experience?

Thanks for your input.

Of course, big 4 audit is an invaluable experience needless to say. That's what I thought as well! And I am leaning toward taking the audit offer.

But what I am wondering is, wouldn't the ops position help me understand day-to-day deals (by the bank) and trade settlements better? Plus, I feel that a BB bank's name value will open lots of doors in the future.

what are your thoughts?
