Keep in mind that among top schools there are more economics programs than finance programs. Also, all of the programs in this post are very, very good. Even tier 5 programs are amazing and far above average.

Where would university of Illinois fall in these tiers? Also, I dont think Texas should be that high certainly not better than Carnegie or Virginia.

Illinois has a very solid accounting program, second only to Texas for a while now, but it doesn't come to mind for finance.

Also, Texas has surprisingly good opportunities for finance majors and a lot of really big names recruit them including investment banks, big 4 accounting and big 3 consulting firms. It was ranked 4th for finance last year.
