Music management=business/marketing + music degree?

Does anyone know anything about or have any experience with a music management degree? My S wants to go this route.

However, when I took a quick look at the handful of schools that have this field of study, the programs seem to be weighted heavily on the music side, eg, auditioning, music theory, conducting, etc. My S does not want to be a performer, but more of like a music event planner.

Any advice/experience is appreciated. Thanks.

You don't even need a degree to be an event planner. Have him do the marketing side, though. It'll be more useful if he's not performing, especially if he changes his mind.

Indiana University has a program that may be close to what you want. They also have a great School of Music. There SPEA school is one of the best.
