Seeking Columbia MBA Information

Hi,

I'm exactly 1 year away from applying to Columbia's MBA program and was looking for help from those admitted, attending, or have attended this program. If you have any hints, tips that really helped you please let me know.

Last week I attended their "Spotlight On: Marketing" lecture where they inform prospective MBA students about their marketing curriculum. I want to change careers and go into brand management. One of their professors and 3 of their alumni were speaking about their experiences. One student currently has a brand management internship w/ a HUGE CPG company and I know that the connections and network Columbia offers are incomparable.

If anyone else could weigh in that would be great. I'm currently living in NYC, and attending Fordham's Pre-MBA program to prove my quant abilities at the MBA level (taking 3 MBA-level courses). In addition to Columbia, I plan to apply to Fordham, NYU, Georgetown, Baruch, American, St. John's, Hofstra, and UCI but would like to know from alumni, current students what sets CBS apart from others, and how I can set myself apart from other candidates.

Thanks in advance!

In brand management, the brand of your business school is important. Of those schools you listed, Columbia, NYU and perhaps Georgetown will be useful.

I know! That's what I am thinking. Of course, out of those schools I listed, they are also the most competitive, so I will need back up plans. But, I'm putting in a lot of effort and really would like adcoms to notice. So, I was trying to see if anyone knows what admissions (specifically CBS) look for in their candidates. Things that can't be found on their website of course.

Thanks for your comment though. I realize College Confidential is primarily used by undergrads, but I have yet to find a site that is as invaluable as this. I wish I would've taken advantage in 2007 when I was applying to undergrad programs!

thank you both!! I'll check those out now. I also subscribed to TheGradcafe forum; however, most posts are geared towards Ph.D. candidates and irrelevant to me. Some of it's useful though.
