Respectable GPA

What is a good GPA to have for schools like UC Davis, Emory, and Utexas, austin. Do you really need a 3.8, 3.9 or can you get away with a 3.5 or 3.6. Also can you get in with a 600 GMAT if you have great work experience and recommendations. GMATs are not my specialty so Im not expecting a high score 650+

Can u get in with a 600? Yes. However, why chance it? GMAT is one of the few pieces of the application that you can still affect late in the application process. Bust your butt and get as high as possible on it.

3.5 to 3.6 is around avg for Stanford/Wharton/Harvard. It is slightly above average for the schools you mentioned.

Thanks Vector. I really want to go to Utexas. Its my first choice. It has one of the top accounting programs in the country(although my major is management). Its higher than georgetown according to US NEWS best grad schools. But the average gmat is like a 670. I belong to few clubs but never held any leadership positions except for working for my dad. I think my work experience and essays might boost the competitive nature of my app. Yes, I will take a kaplan course to boost my score but standardized tests always caused me trouble. By the way, are you in grad school? How did you do on the GMAT?

Seeing that you are still an undergrad, you really need a few years of post-graduate work experience prior to getting your MBA.
