QQ - Quick Question : GPA 9-11 or 10-11 + Middel School Math

Anyways, Im filling out my application and I have a quick question.

I thought I remembered somewhere that Cal Poly calculated GPA 9-11. Which really appealed to me because I did really good 9. Yet, on the app it asks for the A-G 10-11. Do they recalculate it? Or was I mistaken?

Oh and also, I took elementary algebra, and geometry in MS. I put in both as 8th grade. I dont remember my grades though, so I just guessed what I thought I get. Is that okay? I think they just want to know you took the class in MS to get your math credits. Or should I just put pass rather than the grade. I already sent in my SDSU app with the guessed grades, but any suggestions? haha

Thanks!!

It didn't matter in my sons case, but I would report it and change it as soon as possible. He guessed and put down the wrong grade for 1 semester of algebra in 8th grade. Maybe they didn't see the middle school grades or maybe they didn't care. He didn't even realize the mistake until we were going through paperwork in August and found a copy of his Junior High report card, but by that time he had already been officially admitted. Don't guess on your high school grades because if they don't match that is grounds to get rescinded.

According to CalPoly's admission agent, they'll re-calculate GPA using 9th-11th after receiving the application.

I took math in high school. But I took "high school level" math classes when I was in middle school.

I took elementary algebra and geometry.

So, I put these both on my CSU application under A-G math. I put them both under 8th grade, even though one was in 7th grade, because the lowest option is 8th grade on the pull down menu. Is that right?

I kept it at my highschool, instead of changing schools to my middle school, I think the changing schools option is for changing highschool and is for high school transfer students, is thatright?

In middle school, we used the quarter system. Having both of those under quarter, I have 8 semesters of math overall. However, when I switched it to semester like all my other HS classes, it changed to 10. Which is what it should be? I already submitted my SDSU app with the by quarter with 8.. What should I do here?

So, how should I go about this with my Cal Poly SLO app?

And if I messed up with my SDSU app, is there anyway to fix it? Or is it all good, and those small details won't affect my SDSU at all, or was I actually correct the way I did it for SDSU?

Please help me out someone!

DD's school counselor advised the applicants enter the course "exactly" the same as the HS transcript will show. Each of their seniors has a copy of course inventory for that purpose. So that means if your middle school math courses show up on your HS transcript, you can enter it. If not, just leave it out unless you couldn't meet the min. CSU a-g requirement otherwise. Since GPA is only calculated using 9th-11th, you're not gaining anything by entering classes you took in middle school. You'll have to send in your official transcript when graduate, it just make everything simple if it matches with your application.

If you're concerned with the application mistake and want to fix it, call the campus's admission office directly. You might need to hold the line for a while due to the high call volume at this time. But my experience is all the staff are very patient and helpful.

thankss. so i think il just email sdsu and let them know because its not even a factor in admisison for them, and just to let them know.

meanwhile, i figured out the correct way to do it for SLO by talking to someone else. and im all set. thanks for the feedback. i know what im doing now.

thanks again!
