Do you guys have enough time to enjoy L.A.'s nightlife?

You can always make time for it.

The Graduate Student Council also runs things about once a quarter where Caltech, USC, and UCLA rent out an entire club somewhere in downtown LA and it's either free of cost or less than $10 for you to get transportation and the door fee. Not sure if the offer is extended to undergrads or not, though I imagine if it is, it's only for ones that are over 21.

I know a few people who go clubbing somewhat regularly. That said, most don't, not because they don't have time, but because it's not their cup of tea and they don't find the effort/time cost worth it.

I don't go clubbing often, but it's mostly due to time / laziness. I really enjoy it and a lot of my friends do too.

Yea... most students aren't the clubbing type of people. But hey, that means that you won't end up doing something you regret that will skrew up your future astrophysics/aeronautical engineering career.

Besides it's more fun to do more brainy pastimes.

I'm probably less likely to screw up my future career when I'm clubbing than when I'm pursuing some of my other hobbies... hahaha.

As for it being more fun to pursue brainy pastimes, speak for yourself. After doing sets all day long I usually just want to watch some TV or chill with friends.

I definitely have formed a new appreciation for dancing and parties since I came to Caltech. I actually had never been to a party, school dance, or anything like that in high school. Non-Tech parties don't seem nearly as appealing though -- the people would probably be less fun to talk to and the party wouldn't be as... impressively constructed.

When you are a frosh, you will build Interhouse/OPI/Drop Day/Apache/whatever. And you will like it.
