Ctech would be my #1 choice but I'd hate playing fora team that loses so much
I love Caltech and am applying. It would be my first choice, but I plan to play water polo in college and would be extremely frustrated playing for a team that loses ALL the time.
Honestly, I don't see WHY Caltech varsity athletes would go through all the agony of losing all the time. What's the purpose of playing if you never win? lol I really do love Caltech except for the awful athletic teams I'll consider going if I get in but I really want to play for a water polo team that is not god-awful.
We've found that enjoying playing the sport for it's own sake can often negate the agony of defeat. It can be tough sometimes, but you tend to forget about it as your classes begin to crush your soul.
For the record, if you have a hard time dealing with defeat or disappointment, you're going to have a real fun time here when taking your harder classes ...
If you think playing for a varsity team that loses every game is bad, wait until you wind up on an IM softball team in the lowest skill-level league with the worst record. One game the other team had for forfeit since they didn't have enough players to play. We decided to have a game anyway since we had the field reserved. We still lost even though they only had seven players.
At least I managed to keep my batting average around 0.800.
I use to watch the water polo team play a few years ago. They played against a team with a female once, and she was solid. I couldn't get over how many female fans from USC and UCLA came to games.
On weekends, there are training sessions nearby, at the Rose Bowl. Perhaps you could volunteer there and play with some of the best HS kids around?
I also watched the BB team get better and better. It became addictive, even after a long day of work. I saw the win snatched from them in OT, and then the joy of the win. Pres C and his wife were often at games.
I play soccer and can not imagine a life without it. I am a very competitive person, however I do agree with killthefifi; sports should be played for their enjoyment as well as for the victory. I actually talked to the soccer coach, and he wanted me to join and felt like i'd be a great addition. However, i have to get in first..........
