Ok guys, there have got to be people applying RD to Carleton! I most certainly am! I haven't quite finished their application (which is a marathon, 5 short answers???). But I've visited and I loved the campus! Who else is applying RD????
congrats to your daughter! Did she visit when school was in session? My only regret about my visit is that it was during the summer- I didn't get to meet many students. What was your daughter's impression of the students? Artsy, intellectual, preppy...
We visited during school, so daughter got to sit in on a class. She enjoyed the discussion so much that she rushed back to the bookstore to get the book under discussion and starting reading it immediately! The visit was towards the end of May, so the sun was shining and it was warm. Many of the students were enjoying sitting out in the sun, playing frisbee, etc. The students, definitely intellectual, were amazingly normal. A few goths, a few preps, but mostly normal. They didn't seem stressed, but very content. Considering she knew very little about Carleton before the visit, it vaulted to the top of her list.
I am too, but that supplement is killer. I'm not even sure if I would want to go to Carleton even if I got in (Carleton and Wellesley are my biggest reaches and I live in Saint Paul, so it's too close to home).
I'm applying RD and like Carleton a lot, but won't make the trip all the way there to visit unless I get in. Hooray for no application fee and late deadline!
I have bad news... I said earlier "Carleton RD, HERE I COME!!...well at least until Jan 15th" but now, Im not applying. I am so sorry guys, honestly, what a bummer.
