Waitlisted ?

I'm writing for DD, who received a [very well-written, awfully nice] waitlist letter from Carleton. I haven't yet seen anyone else who has posted a status as waitlist. Anyone else out there...? Also -- if so: did you (also) notice anything strange about the format of the (your) letter? Or was it just hers? (Please pm me.)

If there are enough waitlisters, you (I'd say "we," but it's DD and y'all, not me) could start sharing thoughts/plans/intentions and stats.

Any company here in limbo?

Lolz I got wait listed for trolling the free app service and saying how I was a raging, yet conservative, homosexual. I didn't send transcripts or test scores, and I was still wait listed haahahah

I agree with you Piglette! I got a letter saying I was waitlisted today, but it was such a nice letter! (that made me love Carleton even more!) The number reason I applied to Carleton was because I really liked the people there above all else, and although I am a little disappointed that I did not get in, I am fine. Carleton was a very nice place though Paul Thiboutout was such a great person as well.

I as well was Waitlisted as were about 4 people that I heard from on Macalester's accepted facebook page. My friend in real life also got waitlisted. It seem rather common but that may be just me.

How did you view your decision letter, I haven't received any email and even on my portal there's nothing about the decision. I'm freaking out.

A year ago, S received the dreaded waitlist letter from Carleton. He was extremely disappointed, as it was his number one choice. Now, he's a happy freshman there.

Advice to waitlisters who truly want to attend Carleton and believe it is the school for them: 1) Do not waste your time sharing and comparing stats; 2) Get a recommendation letter from someone who knows you well (coach? employer?) but did not write one of the recommendations submitted with your original application; 3) Write a letter to the dean of admissions explaining why Carleton is a good fit for you and what your talents and perspective would contribute to the Carleton community; 4) Choose an example of your best work that you submitted for a high school class (essay, etc.) and include it with your letter to the dean.

And, most important, embrace your No. 1 safety school! Assume you will be going there. Attend its accepted students weekend. If you get a call from Carleton in six weeks offering you a spot, you can make the choice that feels best.

I was wait-listed as well. Got accepted to one of my top choices the day before so it's no problem. Best of luck to all of you!

I got wait listed as well, worst feeling ever! I sent Carleton an email today requesting I be kept on the list. I figured as much when I didn't recieve an nice letter from them on decision day....I checked my email and there it was. Ugh!

Waitlist response

Yeah waitlist'd here as well. The letter mentioned a waitlist response form on the same website from which one can access his or her application status, but I am not seeing the form there. Does anyone know where to find it? My letter said it would be available on March 26, but does anyone know what time it will actually be posted?

I am wondering if someone could maybe provide me with some explanations. In the past 4 days, I have received 6 wait list letters -- one from Carleton, one from Wesleyan, one from Swarthmore, one from Haverford, one from Bowdoin and one from Bucknell (although I think I was waitlisted here because I may have been "overqualified" and showed no interest in the school). At this point, I have not been rejected at any top LAC, but clearly have not been accepted. As I wait for my last 6 decisions to be released (all posted online), I am becoming very worried about the schools I have yet to hear from. According to my track-record, I cannot extrapolate if my current standing is promising for my remaining 6 schools or is a hint that I will not be accepted anywhere. I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA, 4.7 weighted, 2220 SAT, great ECs and teacher recommendations and have taken nothing but honors and AP classes. Since I have not been rejected anywhere, it is evident that I am qualified for every one of these schools. I just don't seem to understand why I haven't been accepted to ONE. I am still waiting to hear from Vassar, Williams, Amherst, Middlebury, UPenn and Columbia. I do have back-ups at the moment, although I never anticipated that I would wind up at one of them. Can anyone please explain to me why I am receiving so many waitlists -- and no rejections or acceptances. Does this mean that there is no hope for my other 6 schools?
