Application Part I Question

Under Carleton's own application it asks about your standardized test history AND future. I've taken the ACT twice so far and I'm planning on taking it again in September. Since I'm only going to send my best score to Carleton what date(s) should I put down?

I got a 27 on December, a 30 in April, and hopefully a 32+ in September. I'm pretty confident that my score will go up from the 30 when I take it again so should I put the September date down and omit the other two? Or, should I put the April and September ones down (in case I get like a 29 in September and then I'd be submitting my April score) just in case?

Also, Carleton asks for the times that you took the PSAT. Will they ever see the scores when you put down the dates you took them or is that just to see if you did?

Thank you for your help!

I'd just put down both April and September. they'll only really look at your highest score, so it couldn't hurt.

I don't think they'll ever see your PSATs...I can't think of why they would, anyway.

Yeah, they don't look at your PSATs at all, so just chalk it up to another question of mysterious purpose on a college application.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about the Part I thing. Technically, I think it's optional anyway.

Hoptkins, it wouldn't hurt to ask a Carleton admissions officer about the ACT. The same issue would apply to the SAT; since I think Carleton accepts score choice I'm not sure why they would want you to list tests that you don't intend to submit. Anyway, the only way to know for sure is to ask an admissions officer. If you do, let us know what you find out!

Yeah just leave out the PSAT unless you did a really good job at it and you want to show off.

As I recall, you don't have to give your actual PSAT scores, just the date(s) you took it. One of those questions of no obvious purpose.
