I'm new to the CMU thing but still...

I'm a junior in CA wondering about my chance at CMU, but I don't know much about their admissions process. anyways, here it goes

applying as undecided, but that prob. means H & SS (?)
SAT-2110 Math-700 Wri.-710 CR-700

SAT IIs: Span: 770 Lit: 710

AP's: Span- 5 Eng- 4 US History- 3

GPA: 3.4 (with hardest courses)

ECs listed on app: football, track, was in 2 clubs, and work

Job/Work Experience: did finances that were really receipts at a family friend's company and also had a job too

Essays (subject and responses): already started so they should be very good- on two hardships that have come down on me the last 2 years, and my dealing w/ them.

Teacher Recs: better than great

Counselor Rec: great

School Type: Private, does not rank

Ethnicity: Hispanic

Gender:M

Also: Took 2 summer courses at a local comm. college- pysch and creative writing, both got A's. and i also got 4 academic awards (not sure if it means much, but what the hell)

thanks

You'll have to apply to a school within CMU (H&SS, engineering, science, business, CS, or architecture) as Undecided. You can't apply to the university itself, as it's the colleges within the university that do the admitting of students.

Your GPA is a bit low, but I think you have a decent chance of getting in, especially to HSS.

I got in with a 3.55 GPA from a similarly tough private school to SCS, which is statistically harder to get into. So i don't think the GPA is an issue.
