wow i happened to apply to CM program and happened to stumble across this blog as well!

the thing is, I applied, thinking that they accept intl students for diversity program. I emailed on of the CM drama faculty and they said that only intl students with green card are admitted. he did say that they will review my app...

but does that significantly reduce my chance of getting in as a intl student for diversity? (i cannot pay $5000+ for a summer program.. too poor)

I applied for the drama program (not mt because i've never took any dance lessons) and I REALLY wish i could get in!!!

is there anyone out there applying / accepted into the non-mt drama program? what is it like?

Last Day Pick Up

I know it may seem premature to be worrying about this when everyone is getting excited about going, but I was wondering if anyone knew about the pick up process. When I talked to the office they said that the kids had to be picked up by 12 on Aug. 9, but they were done after their last class on Aug. 8, which ends at 3 and were free to go then. I asked if there was any kind of party or reception that night and I was told no, but I felt that I was talking to an admissions officer for the school, not really someone who knew a lot about the program. I would love to leave on the 8th but don't want to deprive my daughter of some kind of goodbye ritual if there is one. Since I am flying across the country to pick her up to take her to join our family elsewhere, I would appreciate it if anyone who has had prior experience with this could let me know how the last two days work. Thanks!

The last few days at CMU are for auditions. If you get an early audition (these may have been the MTs), you might just be done very early; if you get the last audition slot on Friday (I think these were the acting-only auditions), you're not done until then. I believe there is a get together of sorts on campus in the late afternoon/early evening Friday for teachers and students--a cookout. I know that not all the students stayed around for it, but my son (who had one of those Friday audition slots) found it to be a nice thing to do, and a real stress-reliever. I don't think there is anything in the evening Friday, but it is time for "goodbyes" and groups of friends seem to gather together informally then. My son, with his late audition, reserved his "goodbyes" for then, and was not too involved in the informal parties that occurred on Thursday evening for those who were done with auditions early.

So, I guess the answer is NO there is not a formal fairwell party on Friday evening. Just the dinner-time get together.
