CMU Pre-College Questions

I got my acceptance letter in the mail today, and I have a few questions.

1. I know that there is a Tap Workshop offered, but is it only for students who have Tap experience, or are beginners also welcome.
2. What are the tights listed for Styles? Are they Jazz Pants? Also under what to bring for dance, CMU lists Tights for Ballet and Loose Pants for Jazz. Are Jazz pants okay for Ballet? and what exactly are "loose pants".
3. Are the voice lessons worth the price? I've read both good and bad reviews about them.
4. I can't find the article anymore but I remember that there was a discussion regarding tank tops and someone recommended a tight nylon shirt for the dance class. But in the handbook it lists tanktop or white t-shirt. So would the nylon shirt be acceptable?
5. Did you ship your fan over or did you buy one there?
6. I've read that the Plaid Cash thing isn't very practical, so what would be a good alternative?
7. Are there any other things that I should bring that aren't listed in the handbook?

Thanks

8. What should I bring for the cruise at the end? What qualifies as "showy".

My S did not attend the "cruise" at the end of the CMU program. However, we have done that activity before. You can really wear anything that is neat and clean. Maybe a step above jeans for the CMU event.

As to the fan--you'll need one, but there is a Target nearby, so if you're traveling some distance, you may want to just pick one up there. Fan's are pretty cheap.

My S purchased tights for Styles class and wore them once. I think you may have to wear them that one time, so you have to purchase them, but DON'T spend a lot on money!!!!! Same with "hard soled" shoes.

If you have a bank card (debit card or Visa card), that would be the most practical. The Plaid Cash card works, but you lose what you put on and don't spend, so you have to be careful.

If you have plays or monologue books, you may want to bring them along. You will spend the first two weeks finding appropriate monologues and scenes for your classes. If you are in MT, I suppose you will want to have your favorite song books along. There is a wonderful library within walking distance, however.
