I'm also going to CFA design next year. I think both of your options are great! I don't think admission stats should be a huge factor in your decision, but rather, the quality of the program. Take a look at the curriculum at each school.
CMU's industrial design and communication design programs are both ranked pretty high if that's any indication.
I realize that this reply is probably a little late; but there's my view of it.
Money and location should also be a factor. Those two schools are on opposite ends...
