They're not really comparable. IS is more about business and technology, which leads to more IT management jobs. CS is for the software industry. IS is not really deep on the programming or math, so clearly a lot of CS programs will be a lot better than IS for getting a software engineer job.

I go to cmu. 2nd year ECE.

if i seem too cynical or sarcastic, it's cuz i just got done with my exams.

IS is the copout version of CS (... with MBA-like classes). go to UIUC or UMich. undergrad CS in CMU doesn't really get the respect they deserve for all the hours they work. go to like UIUC then come here for grad. (then ur classes will be easier too!)

Hi,

are we required to submit our final high school transcript to CMU? Cos my addition booklet seems to mention NOTHING about it, and when I called the Undergrad Office they were unsure about it also, and just told me to wait for it in the mail.

Is the admission to CMU conditional? I'm an international student and I've finished high school last December. But I've got one deficient grade and I wonder whether they'll re-consider my offer?? I really want to confirm my place there asap..

Thanks a lot!

Are you accepted or wait listed? If so, call admissions office and/or e mail the academic adviser for the college program you plan to attend.
