I second that question. |

| I don't think they would even tell you if that was true - because then people would start freaking out. |

| I doubt thats true. It's more likely they mailed out the batches by alphabetical order or geography or order of evaluation. Or perhaps, randomly. |

Very good question. We don't mail our letters this way. Our letters are typically sent as batches that contain a mix of decision letters which are ready to go out by March 21st. Then, approximately, four days after the mail date of your specific letter, you can review the decision on "Where Am I in the Process." Hope that helps. Please call the Office of Admission if you have any other questions. |

| Carnegie Mellon Admission,
I have been accepted at a few other colleges. These colleges have a rule, where the sooner you send in the postcard saying that you are going to attend, the higher your ranking is for getting better housing. As of now, CMU is the only college left that I have not recieved a letter or online notification from. Do you know when the last batch of letters would be sent? Would it be appropriate for me to call the admissions and ask if I did, or did not get in? |

| Hello Carrera_GT,
Check on-line throughout the weekend and then call the Office of Admission on Monday if you still have not received your decision letter. Our letters, unfortunately, experienced a 3-4 day lag with the USPS so they are coming... As part of an Office policy, we do not discuss/release Admission decisions over the phone until after April 1. Wait until Monday and then give the office a call. ( I hope you receive you letter before that thought.) Good luck and thank you for your patience. Hang in there! |

| Lildude-ravi,
Financial Aid letters began going out about a week or so ago and are still being generated. I would encourage you to call the office of admission to make sure that we have received all of the information to come up with your package. A counselor can check all of that for you and can even tell you if your letter has been sent out. Hope this helps! |

| Dear CMU Admission,
When can students applying from Central American expect to receive their admissions decision? My sister says there is nothing on-line. Please let us know the approximate date that she should be expecting your decision. Thank you very much! |

I remember there being an accepted students weekend in April two years ago when my S was admitted. He did a Sleeping Bag weekend at the same time so he could stay on campus overnight, (while I stayed in a hotel) and observed some classes. You could also set an appointment with a financial aid counselor and put your deposit down if you were ready to "take the plunge". I remember it being cold too! |

| This is a rather specific question, but is it worth taking the European History AP exam if i'm planning on majoring in Engineering? I already have a 5 on the US history test and wasn't quite clear on what type of credit is granted -- the website said it was elective credit, can you please explain how that works? |

| Yes, CMU's website does not have a direct AP policy, only that they will review our scores and tell us over the summer if we get credit. Is it safe to assume that if you scored 5s on several APs that you will place out of the equivalent college courses? For example Calc BC would take you out of the first Calculus class? |
