hey guys,

could anyone tell me the difference between standard, prime and suite housings? what would the room sizes and bathrooms be like?

also, are Resnik House, Welch House and West Wing usually offered to first-year students?

And finally, could anyone give me a gist of how the following choices are? (i.e. room size, location around campus, private/public bathrooms, pricing, and any other stuff)

Donner House
Hamerschlag
Resnik House
Welch House
West Wing
Morewood

You can see plans of typical rooms here: Buildings&Facilities and virtual tours of the rooms here: Virtual Tours

It seems like they change room assignments around from building to building. I believe for example that my son's current building won't have freshmen next year even though it did this year.

Resnik and West Wing are always full of non-first year students.

standard - shared hall bath
prime - bathroom (one toilet/one shower) shared with 2 rooms (typically 2 doubles). This means that someone may be in the shower when you want to use it. You will not typically have that problem when there are 6 showers for your hall, but you will if you have one shower/toilet for 4 people.
suite - bathroom and a common area shared with 2-4 rooms (typically only in West Wing/Resnik, which you won't get)

Do you know if you can retain building after the freshman year if you stay at a dorm that has designated freshman floors?

Noblerare, if you check out the links I posted (#24) you'll see typical room sizes.

You can retain the building after freshman year if it has designated freshman floors (this used to be common with Mudge), but some of the housing with freshman floors/areas next year will be freshman only the next year, which means you won't be able to retain building. Also, Morewood E-tower is considered separate from the rest of Morewood for housing purposes, so you can't building retain into A-D towers. Is there a particular dorm you're asking about?
