Chances for Early Decision?

Hey guys, I am a Puerto Rican male from New York. At an info session, they said the high school you come from is very important, how true is this? My highschool, Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua NY, is number 104 in the nation according to NewsWeek (http://www.newsweek.com/id/201160/?s...ey&q=2009/ee/1) Anyway, heres the meaty stuff.

Ethnicity: Puerto Rican

GPA: 3.4 / 3.6 - I know this is a bit low, i just messed up freshmen year and one class junior year

SAT C: 2050 (Considering retaking)
SAT M: 800
SAT CR: 650
SAT W: 600

ACT C: 31 (Retaking in 2 weeks or so, my goal is 33)

What do you think my chances are for early decision?

I am also a prospective student. It's ok you messed up freshman year I heard at the information session that they don't look at your freshman year GPA, only soph, junior and part of senior.

I think they'll see your 800 in math and be like, whoa. I say, you're in.

S was accepted regular decision w/similar test scores but higher GPA. Also, CMU recalculates GPA w/o freshman year I believe, so you should be good there. What college w/in CMU are you applying? Write a good essay and you should have a very good chance.

Dude, I live right near Chappaqua. I live in Bedford. Anyway, Im pretty sure that list was only public schools but 104, none the less, is really good. I heard somewhere that the acceptance rate for early decision is actually lower so you may want to consider that. And is it really true that GMU recalculates your GPA without freshman year?
