Selectivity & Other Info

How selective is Carnegie Mellon? Why are 17% of the students not in the top 10% while peer schools have much less than that?

Why go to Carnegie Mellon? What is it known for?

If you were to do a bit of legwork on your own, it would be pretty easy to figure out what CMU is known for. Just spend two minutes looking at their website: cmu.edu. Look at previous posts. You might also notice that a number of students are accepted into the college of fine arts...mostly based on their portfolios and talent, not their class rank.

I think busdriver said it very well. In fact, CFA students account for ~17% of the class so I will give them benefit of the doubt .
