Financial Aid

S1 accepted. "Scholarship" amount listed in acceptance e-mail. CSS submitted. expecting need based aid.

Does anyone know for certain whether the scolarship is a total aid amount or will there be more coming?
If more is coming (ie need-based) when do we find out?

The best way to know for CERTAIN is to call the school and ask...

If you submitted your CSS profile, you should have an estimate in your acceptance packet. Anyone receive anything?

I called and they said the financial aid package should come on your hard copy mail....the email acceptance amount was just merit scholarship..

So yea....

I'm still really sad i didn't receive any scholarships...nada..zero...
My SAT wasn't the best but could they not offer 10k maybe 5k or even with 1k i would be happier ...

I dont think the FA can cover it so i prolly wont end up going..sigh

The more complete aid package was in the hard copy regular mail Welcome envelope which was received today. Additional aid - small grant and a lot of loans and work study

Is the FA package in the welcome packet official? Because there's NO WAY I am attending Case with this many loans.

You'll receive your formal FA package once you submit an up to date CSS/FAFSA, but yes, you can consider your preliminary offer to be fairly accurate... or at least as accurate as the financial info you submitted.

Got my financial package, pretty disappointing, it looks like I probably won't be able to attend.

I submitted the CSS for early action, but that was with 2010 information, and my family income has decreased by $15k-20k in 2011. Do I need to update my CSS when 2011 tax forms come in, or can the FAFSA compensate for that?

Was excited to get a $30K (what I thought was merit/above need) scholarship and then very surprised and disappointed when I got the actual mailing with the FA package and saw the high loan amount. Obviously those scholarships are needs based to some extent since they were the only "free money" we received. Not sure it is worth attending Case and graduating with so much debt. Maybe that is why there application fee is free and they accept so many applicants...not many can afford to attend.

Seems obvious to me that Case is excellent for the full pay kid with great stats. They can get an awesome scholarship and save tens of thousands by attending Case. But if you are in need of Financial Aid - not such a good deal.

i went through this process last year and am currently a student at Case.

i applied and was accepted early (december). later in the year, once all the regular decisions came out, Case released MANY of what they call "university grants". these can be in any value they choose and for whatever reason they choose. there aren't any restrictions or qualifications like scholarships of financial aid. ive spoken to people who have gotten them for academics, EC's, leadership, financial need, home-life, and many other reasons. so don't worry if the financial aspect isn't looking so bright at this point.

dont hesitate to contact me with questions when decision time rolls aroung. i'm Biomedical and Electrical Engineering.
