Help: Case or emory??

With tomorrow being May 1st, I have a tough decision to make:

I have to choose between either Case Western or Emory. I live near Cleveland and would love to get away. If money was not an option, I would go to Emory. However, I have not yet visited campus so I only know what I have heard and read.

The issue is that I received a ton of scholarships and can go to Case for free and graduate with $0 in debt. On the other hand, I would have to pay $17,000 a year to go to Emory. While I think I would rather go to Emory, that is a big difference in money.

I'm also worried about majors. I don't know for sure what I want to do yet, but it is very possible that I will decide to go to med school. I do not want to do engineering, but I might do business/economics or maybe even law.

Anyone have any tips? Would it be worth it to go to Emory, a top ranked university, even if it meant debt?

I can certainly understand your desire to go away to school. But, in my opinion, a free ride at a terrific university like Case Western is just too good to pass up. This is especially true if you are planning to go on to graduate school, which can be quite expensive. If you do well at Case you should have a good chance of getting into a top graduate school in whatever field you ultimately choose to pursue.

In addition, on principle, I would never commit to a school that I had not personally visited. (Although, I’ve heard nothing but great things about Emory and its campus.)

It might be an easier choice if you had a definite major. In terms of their med programs they are both strong. However in terms of law and business i would undoubtedly choose emory. It seems as though you really do want to go to emory but the only thing holding you back is the money. If you will be financially stable despite the 17k a year I think you should go for it, even if it means you have to cut costs or get a part time job. You will most likely be spending the next couple of years at the chosen campus and it's best to choose where you will be happiest.

Emory definitely. even though more of Emory's undergrad population is from the state of Georgia, so less diversity.
