Congrats to all who have been admitted. D is still waiting to hear. Nothing has changed in her Cardinal Station Account so I'm a little worried, especially with the news of the other deferrals. She is a strong student (3.9 UW GPA, 33 ACT, ranked 4 of 370) and applied as an engineering major. Hoping the news is good; she loved CUA when she visited.
Hey guys....I know its suprising that some of you guys got deferred even though you had amazing stats and yet I got in with so much worse then you....My theory is that since you have such a high GPA and SAT score that CUA knew it was a safety for you. Instead of taking up an admission slot with someone who will probably decline..they decided to defer you and accept you RD if space permits.
My D just got her acceptance on Cardinal Station! Apparently we were checking on the wrong part of Cardinal Station where we kept seeing "application complete" but I read a previous CC post that mentioned checking "Campus Finances" and found her Acceptance status there. She is thrilled!
I got deferred from Catholic with a 1950 SAT FROM A CATHOLIC SCHOOL. This is complete bs!!!!!!! This school does not like honors and AP STUDENTS. I GOT A 1300 ON THE CRITICAL READING AND MATH. THEY ARE COMPLETELY BIASED!
Sad to hear so many well qualified students are getting deferred. Makes you wonder about the school's commitment to academics...(they have a reputation for being a drinking school) Sad to see they don't want to encourage more young Catholic intellects instead of discouraging them by deferring them....
DEFERRED!? 1800 SAT, 4.09 WGPA 3.4UW, 700+ community service hours, hispanic, top public school, all honors and ap/ib classes, sports, good recs....where do i go from here?? Catholic was supposed to be my safety..
We did get word of acceptance, but have not received anything in the mail. Has anyone else not received anything at this point in the mail? I see that some have posted that they've received a big white envelope.
When did you all complete your applications by? According to CardinalStation, mine was completed 11/10 and I still have not heard. CUA is supposed to be a safety for me, but hearing about all the deferrals makes me nervous...
My stats:
2000 SAT
good GPA (school doesn't use 4.0 scale)
lots of extracurricular activities
12 honors/AP classes
good recommendations
I made it very clear during my interview that CUA was my first choice (I love the Catholic identity and location).
Question for those accepted: on CardinalStation there's a message that says my application is incomplete because of a missing item called "Honors Program Acceptance." I did not receive any info on the honors program in my envelope--is this the case for anyone else?
My daughter found out she was accepted on Cardinal Station a few days ago and today she received the information packet inviting her to accept admission for the honors program. She hasn't received the official admissions packet yet though. She attends a Catholic high school so CUA has always been one of her top choices. She was very enthusiastic about CUA, with visits, admission interview, and follow up emails to her admission counselor. She also went to the information meeting at her hs to see if there was any more information, so they knew she was very interested. She's got a touch choice ahead of her, as she found out yesterday she was accepted early admission to Villanova too.
@lagr42 - I also live in CT. Another friend of mine got his acceptance today as well.
My CardinalStation still doesn't say anything, but if everyone else completed their apps by Oct 31st, I'm not going to worry. I didn't go EA, nor am I Catholic. I'm actually Methodist, which I believe I put on my Common App. That could easily qualify me as a reject?
