List for EA applicants

Curmudgeon's D is a definite apply. It goes in the box next week. Everything is complete for EA. Man I hope they do really early writes and really early scholarships. Spring is a ways away.

Who else is a definite? Dodds? Is it happening? Splashmom?

Definitely happening for our son, EA to Centre! Since he's a boy, he's not keeping up with your daughter, but the essay(s) are finished, and I'm going to try to get him to start filling out the online app this weekend. Everything is almost ready for the teacher recommendations and the stuff for the GC. He's probably going to use the common app, and do some customizing for his schools. How about your otter? Common app, Centre's online app, or?

I keep hoping he'll hear early too, including about the scholarships. From the timelines, it looks like we should know by late January, so that's not a tough as April.

BTW, I recently found a financial aid form on the Centre website that I think I have to complete before 1 December for him to be considered for financial aid. It looks like a mini-FAFSA. I've noticed some other schools have a similar form, but they specify that you have to file it only if you are seeking need-based aid. The Centre form doesn't specify need or merit-based aid. Any idea? And then there's Hanover, which says they'll let you know about admission and preliminary scholarship info by 20 December, and I can't find any requirement for an early "financial statement" from the parents.

Gee Whiz! Just when I thought I was starting to understand how the application process works, I'm going to have to get educated on how to negotiate the financial aid maze. I knew it was coming, but I thought once the apps are in, then I might be able to relax until January. Nope!

I gots no idea what you are talking about so hop to it and figure it out so you can tell me. Sheesh. They hide that stuff everywhere, don't they?

BTW, she will use not just the Common App, but the VERY Common App for all schools who will accept it.

Here's the link to the page I'm talking about. It's the Early Estimate form and click on it for the PDF. I haven't asked yet, but I will as soon as his app is sent in.

I've applied already EA, sent in my stuff two weeks ago.
I'm from KY, so a lot of my friends applied there last year - most knew their admission decisions by the end of January.
I'm a little nervous about admissions, but last year I was named a Centre Fellows Scholar and I was given a 6,000 scholarship...so I hope that is a good sign for admission/further aid.
If yall have any questions about the central KY region or Centre or anything, I'll be happy to answer them. I live about 35 minutes from Centre/Danville. It is quite a cute community

Close to the top of the list --- it is a wonderful school and I know my parents would be happy to have me in Danville. I have many friends who absolutely love it. Where does it rank on your list?

Centre is our son's first choice, at least at this point. We are Kentuckians living in Germany. Centre is close to our families so our son will have support nearby (2-2 1/2 hours away) which is much closer than we will be in Germany.

iamnotabronte, I'd say emotionally, it's number one. Practically, I'm not sure. She wants to play bball if possible and $'s are a serious concern. She loves everything we have seen at Centre on our two visits, everything we've read . Surprising for a kid whose first list of criteria included "minimal greeks" and "large OOS". But Centre has been at the top since spring break sophomore year. It has had great staying power.Others have rocketed up and down her list at it has remained a constant.
