Decision Status

I talked to the admission office a couple days ago and they said that decision "mailed" on webadvisor means that the decision has been printed out and soon will be mailed once it is signed and sealed. All decisions were officially announced to have been said last Wednesday, January 11th. So it might be a couple more days before you get the decision, though of course it depends how far away you live as well. Good luck to your son! Hope it did/or will turn out well!

I've been waiting looking outside my door for the mail truck for 4 hours straight. And it's still not here! I'm freaking out! I can't wait! I'm so nervous. Fingers Crossed!

I wasn't able to edit the first post I made, so here's the decision!

Decision: Accepted

Date applied: 1/15/2011
Date decision postmarked/received: 1/06/11
Accepted at which school/major at Chapman: College of Performing Arts/BM in Vocal Performance (Emphasis)

Stats:
  • SAT Total: M: 670, CR: 590, WR: 600
  • ACT: 31
  • SAT Subject Tests: None
  • GPA-UW/W: 3.2/3.4
  • Rank: 13% (63/465~ The 465 continually fluctuates)
  • AP/IB classes: AP Biology, AP US History, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC (AB & BC this semester - Not reported on sent-in transcript). No IB classes. Honors: H Chem, H English 11 & 12 (12 not reported), H Math Analysis, H Econ, H Gov&Econ (this year's senior course)
Subjective:
  • Essays: Good
  • Teacher Recs: Good (Very good music recommendation from my piano teacher)
  • Counselor Rec: Meh (She's not very interested in her students)
  • EC highlights: JSA Treasurer Junior Year, VP this year; D&D Club (for diversity :P); Karate training for 12 years, and I teach during the summers (free); multiple honor choirs, choral activities, and piano competitions/festivals; and piano and singing lessons
Location/Person:
  • State or Country: California, USA
  • School Type: Public (Best in Region - 2nd best in County)
  • Ethnicity: Typical Caucasian
  • Gender: Male
Other Factors, hook?: No hook, except I was accepted into the conservatory before I was admitted (possible hook due to staff?)
General Comments, scholarship chances, status info, going to Chapman...?:
No merit-aid offered (didn't expect it because of my low GPA - I wish I worked harder), but their financial aid is very generous, so I'm hoping that part of that is made up for.
Chapman is my FIRST choice; I've been dreaming about going to Chapman since the end of my sophomore year. However, if I can't afford it financially, I'll be going to Fullerton (already accepted). I might try to transfer in (with more scholarhship, and revenue coming in from online business - that's another story).

Edit: Congratulations SJR!! Hope everything goes well for you!!

applesnbannanas, my son's financial aid package was in a separate letter, tucked inside his acceptance folder. So, two letters in there; one saying he was accepted, and the other detailing the scholarship.
