Dbu?

I plan to go into Ministry, either full time preaching or evangelism, possibly a mixture. I am a strong Christian and have an undying love for my Lord, and I even have preacheda my church and started a bible study in my school. I know that DBU has those many Accelerated Bachelors and Masters degrees, and more specifically the Christian Studies (Applied Ministry) and Global Leadership Masters. I believe that would help me best. I take the ACT Saturday and am planning hopefully between a 28-30 range. Is DBU a well accreditted school? Is it well known? Also what other schools would be a good choice? I would like to stay around Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

LOL ... gadad, I was pondering the same thing.

In any case, I believe you're response and my response to your response respond to the OP's querry of ... "Is [DBU] well known?" While maybe not THE answer, might it be safe suggesting DBU might not want to put "DBU - Who knows how great it is?" on their bookstore tee shirts and bumper snickers.

Is it a food supplement? A medical conditon? A secret terrorist group? A new measure of academic time on task to compete with the Carnegie unit? A geek's computerize slang for CPU when it isn't enough or the hard disk crashes? An dyslexic abbreviation for the University of Dhubai? A terminal degree in "body undergarments" from Victorian's Secret University? Who knows? Do tell.

Cory - One week ago, you posted "I have my (Air Force Academy) interview coming up this summer, I hope to be a pilot, thats my dream.." This is a pretty sudden change in life plans!

From having Googled, I'm assuming that DBU is Dallas Baptist University. As a university administrator for the past 33 years, I must say I haven't heard of it. The middle 50% of its students have ACT scores of 19-27. If you were to go there, I'd predict that you'd be the only student with a 36 ACT in attendance - and perhaps the only ACT 36 student to ever attend.

If you're serious about pursuing the ministry, I'd think that you'd follow up a baccalaureate degree with a graduate degree from a seminary. There's no need to major in "pre-seminary" at the undergraduate level - especially for someone with academic credentials such as yours. Whether you ultimately decide to fly, enter the ministry, or something else, you'll be a more effective, better-rounded professional and citizen with a broad-based undergraduate experience from a diverse college that connects you to people and perspectives from all across society and the world.

I'm a little surprised no one has heard of DBU, but I guess you're question about it being well-known is answered. If your heart is set on a Baptist school, I think Baylor would be a good choice. I also believe that Southwestern and SMU are great schools for aspiring ministers; they are both Methodist. TCU offers a scholarship for pre-ministerial students, regardless of denomination.
