Hi there,
Well, I certainlly remember how hard it was choosing which Christian college I was going to! But, it definitely helped me to hear where others had gone and what their experiences were. And, one key for me was visiting the schools-it's really hard to get a feel for them without actually being there. In particular, staying a couple nights as a "prospective" in the dorm was helpful. Also, since I've been at Focus on the Family, I've noticed they often recommend contacting the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities when people are trying to decide on this issue. I believe they have a lot of info on the different schools and how they compare on their website. Just a thought. Well, good luck choosing your school. I'll be praying for you!

I would recommend that you also look at Liberty University.
I wouldn't! He just said that Baylor is too big.

Baylor = 12,000 Undergrands
Liberty = 13,000 Undergrads and GROWING RAPIDLY

Plus, I'm not saying it's a bad school, but it's significantly below the OP's academic level, and hardly has an LAC feel to it.

One note--the OP's handle suggests that he may be Asian, so he might want to take a look at the demographics of the schools, depending on whether having other similar students around is important to him. Some Christian schools (i.e., Liberty) have very few Asians. Also, his post suggests that he goes to a public high school, so he may not want to go to an extremely conservative school.

I think Wheaton is the first place to look.

University of Dallas is a great school with rigorous academics and a sizable Protestant population. Good CS program!

An Int Sci Fair friend of son1 attends Pepperdine, as has all his siblings. He seems insanely happy compared to son1 who is in Boston with the long cold nasty winters.

Emory is barely tied to the Methodist Church, and is in a very populated urban enviro. Son2 attended PreCollege there last year, which turned him into a Christian College advocate. Coed bathrooms, "Dooley" the non-mascot (skeleton), lots of drugs. Lots of very rich spoiled people.

How about Fairfield University in Fairfield CT?

I would not describe Emory as a Christian School.

A stunner of a comment ...

Nor would I! Emory's about as liberal as it gets. Probably more Jewish kids than Christians. And just because there is a graduate divinity school means nothing in that regard. So do Yale, Chicago, and numerous other dens of iniquity.

All of this muddled confusion does is lend some insight as to why novices tend to be confused. Let's just hope they're not novice, Luke-warm Christians!

Fairfield's a nice Catholic college, but like all with that bent, belonging to a different categorization than the "Christian colleges." And that doesn't mean it's not "Christian." Only that it's Catholic. And among campuses, each has a specific, non-overlapping connotation.

Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts is a Christian college and a New England LAC. Gordon is located north of Boston on a MBTA commuter line than terminates at North Station. Sure it is cold in the winter and you get snow from time to time. But it is a different kind of cold and snow than Chicago's.

NACCAP is a Resource

NACCAP (North American Coalition for Christian Admission Professionals) is an organization that host a series of Christian College fairs around the country which gives a good opportunity to check out some Christian Colleges all in one place. You can see the upcoming schedule for these fairs at naccap.org/college-fairs/

Two of my three kids went to Taylor University in Indiana (they are still there) and have had a wonderful experience both academically and spiritually. But the most important part of this process is to really define out what you want to see happen in your life (outcome) and then find the school that provides the best community to help you achieve that desire.

Pepperdine!! Your grades would definitely get you admitted, possibly even a scholarship, but you would still be among academic equals. Great school, and absolutely gorgeous. It isn't as "Christian" as a school like, say, Biola, but the education and opportunities there exceed most Christian schools.
