How tolerant is Grove City of Liberal-leaning Christians?

I go to a christian school, and i've been looking at a couple of christian colleges. I actually love wheaton the most, but its too far away for me financially, and my GC recommended grove city to me. I have two questions: How is their computer science program and how tolerance are they of non-conservative christians? I'm technically independent politically, but i'm more liberal than conservative in my beliefs.

You can learn more about GCC's computer science department at: GCC: Computer Science I can't tell you much more than positive hearsay about the program. I do know that the head of the department is a very bright person.

As for the political issues, you will find a spectrum of political views among the students. And, being students, some will be obnoxious about their views one way or another. The vast majority will not be. Among the faculty, I would say that libertarian views are more common than in most schools, and you would find your views respected, provided that where they intersect your academic work, you can rationally explain and defend them.

If you are truly set in your ways on developing a more liberal political bent, then perhaps Messiah College would be a better fit? I don't know how it ranks in computer science compared to GCC, but it is definitely more liberal politically, both in the faculty and in the student body. And Messiah is a very highly rated school generally.

My guess is wildwoodscoot has portrayed GCC well, if broadly, generally.

Like your personal circumstance, despite what the PR suggests that the vast majority of GCC students are convicted, converted, committed, and conservative Christians (and many probably are, more or less), the vast majority might be matriculated elsewhere were it not for the dirt-cheap tuition. But in any case, they are there and a great many it would be safe saying, are not necessarily ultra-conservative or convicted of the campus dogma, despite the perception of the public and the desires of the college domos. Guaranteed, you'll have plenty of more liberal or laissez faire Christian company, be sure. Heck, my buddy used to drive the Saturday nite bus out to the Harrisville firehall GCC Greek keggers, which were well-known to the campus community (altho it did not stop @ the student union, you can be sure). Now that's creative and modestly liberated work-study, that merely illumines and alleviates your concern, and for sure, being relieved you'll even find a few Iron City sippers among the Grovers. Heck, last year there was a bonafide porn star in the senior class ...until one of his classmates recognized him and blew the whistle on his weekend performances in Hollywood. Poor guy, was just bumping and grinding his way through school, in advance of applying to seminary. It's not known what, if anything became of the whistle-blower who was undoubtedly just doing research on the evils of porn and stumbled across his Pew Hall pal doing the hokey-pokey absent his boxers, the gay grinder got the boot.

So, guess that implies it might be ok to watch ...but don't dance! At least on youtubable stages.

yea, you'll be fine.
