| This College Deserves a Thread My second son is considering CNU. The school is one of the most dynamic we've seen, and we've been "looking" for five years (when you include my older two kids). SAT scores have been shooting up. Construction has been extensive, and continues. The dorms (er, "residence halls" officially) are mostly quite new. CNU strike me as a real happenin' place.
Drawbacks? This portion of Virginia, known as "the penninsula" has pockets of poverty--both urban and rural. Interspersed with these, however, are some of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the state. Williamsburg is becoming a retirement mecca, and is, of course, the home of William and Mary--the nation's second oldest college.
CNU, until 1977, was a satellite campus of William and Mary. It is a good, solid, small liberal arts college. It has in-state tuition, and a great future. I think my S2 wants to go there before it gets "discovered".
We would, of course, appreciate any other opinion before the die is cast. |
