What is there to do around CMC?

Whats there to do?
I walked around the outskirts of the whole Claremont College Campus adn all I saw were restaurants & antique shops...is there malls, dancing, activities, sports centers, movie theaters, bowling alleys, laser-tag around the area? (that I can get to by bike or close by...not LA distance)
Thanks!

I heard "Claremont Village", the local main street or whatever, has recently faced an expansion and now has a movie theater, jamba juice, and several more things. it's not RIGHT on the outskirts of the campus, but it's definitely within biking distance. as for dancing/activities/sports, I honestly think you'll find plenty of that ON campus. CMC is big on extracurriculars!

having lived in claremont for the past four years (i go to boarding school there), i can honestly say that there is nothing to do in claremont. sure, the village seems cute and quaint, but that gets old real fast...

The city of Claremont may not have many things to do, but the school Claremont McKenna College offers a huge variety of activities.

bowling alley about 5 mins drive

ontario mills/victoria gardens is like 10-15 mins drive on the 10 and 15 freeways, and there's tons there in terms of movie theaters, shopping, restaurants

there's not a ton of stuff within walking distance other than the village (which is cool but gets old)

the village has a movie theater but it plays more of the indie movies

if you have a car, theres tons of stuff to do within 10 minutes drive

Outside of school activities and parties, there's not much to do within walking distance of CMC. A 5 to 10 minute drive will change all that, though. There is plenty to do if you have a car. If you don't, just have a friend with a car (more than 50% of students have a car).

Mt. Baldy is 25 minutes away by car (I understand there's a ski club and they have a bus take kids up there in the winter). The beach is about 45 minutes away -- Pomona has a Ski/Beach Day in February where everyone goes skiiing in the AM and the beach in the afternoon.

We saw the bowling alley on the way from Claremont to Ontario Mills Mall...is there a bus that runs along Foothill that will get folks to other local attractions?

parking pass are ~$25 for the year--not an issue. i've got a car on campus this year, and to be honest, haven't needed it that much. there is literally A TON of stuff to keep you on campus, not least of which is a happening social scene with new people to meet all the time (the other colleges make that possible), though hw is definitely one deterrent for driving into LA/out of LA.

i've gotta get back to finals studying, but if you've got more questions (i'm a current student) you know what to do (reply)
