What are the most important SATS, GPA or essays? How important are essays?

According the CMC's common data set: rigor of the secondary record, standardized test scores and extracurriculars are very important

Essays, reccommendations and volunteer work are important

GPA, class rank etc are considered

They are all important.

Essays are the only part that allows you the chance to tell who you really are. So while the SATs and GPA are important (as they show your academic strength; for SAT, the only standardized numerical measurement), don't slack off when writing your essay! Give some thought into it and let your personality shine through.

I would say essays are very important and SATs are important. If your SATs are just OK, your essays and the rest of your profile better be super good.
