Help me, which one is better as a school for English and history and which one is usually more respected and prestigious?

i dont know much about bowdoin, but i know claremont is definitely all of those

bowdoin is all of those, too. but the colleges are different. i say what each offers is on par in quality with the other, so the choice should likely come down to other factors, such as fit, location, history, feel. i say apply to both and visit the ones you get into, if you can.
