Early Acceptance/Presidential Scholarship

hey guys,

Yesterday I got a letter from Clark, which I assumed would be a confirmation of my app. or interview information. it was actually an acceptance letter with an invitation to apply for the Presidential Scholarship. Did anyone else who applied to Clark (i believe the deadline was Jan 15 to be considered for school-provided scholarships) receive this letter?

My son was accepted a couple of weeks ago. The letter informed him he was being considered for a scholarship. I believe they informed him early because he had to interview specifically for the scholarship.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure that all of the scholarships require an interview so that Clark can make its final decision.

Yes! I got mine a couple of days ago, accepted and eligible for the Presidential Scholarship as well.

Are you going to the Presidential Scholars Day? :| My alumni still hasn't contacted me, so I have to hunt him down to do my interview, sigh.

Congratulations!! I'm not sure if I'll be going to the Presidential Scholars Day because I'm waiting to hear from Wesleyan in the next few days (I applied ED II). I haven't heard from my interviewer either. Are you sure they won't just contact us?

Well, mine hasn't contacted me though I got the postcard about it in December. So, I called in and there appeared to be some problem, so they're having a new alumni contact me this week.

They actually sent that to be personally through email. I love Clark's personal touch. Did anyone else get one about their essay?

If anyone goes to PS Day, I'll see you there! ;]

i got the same acceptance letter yesterday. i also got an email a few days ago from an admissions rep and thought it was just standard but my essay was mentioned specifically. the thing is---i don't really know that much about clark, other than it sounded alright in the review books-so i figured why not apply? i haven't visited yet and it kind of dawned on me yesterday how little i know about the school. i guess i should probably look into it more...

Are you all saying that one has to submit a separate application for the scholarships? And also interview? My d had an alumni interview, but that was just a part of the application process. Also, for those of you have received acceptances, how long after your app was complete did you hear?

My son heard about a month and a half later (middle of Jan.). He did not fill out a seperate application for scholarships. I guess they review for scholarships when they review the regular applications.

As long as your daughter got her part of the application in by January 15. This was the deadline for Clark sponsored scholarships.

She did. What other schools are you (or your children) applying to? I like the sense of community we saw at clark, but do not have a very good feel for the academics. What do you all think of the quality of education there, and how dangerous do you think the surrounding city is?

Odd, Clark sent me an email saying my application was complete a few days after I sent in my Common App. I know my school report or anything else had not arrived by then.

I'm applying to Syracuse, Northeastern, and University of MD.

My friend who went to Holy Cross sent me this when I asked her about the surroundings:

"Haven't lived in Worcester in years, but I have heard South Main St. area (near Clark) is still not such a good neighborhood. It was Really Really REALLY bad when I went to school in Worcester.
I suggest looking up the Worcester Telegram-Gazette on-line and start looking for the news.
On the plus side, with all the colleges and universities, and a thriving local scene, there is plenty to do in town. Worcester suffers from "little sister syndrome," always comparing itself to Boston.
Relax, have fun an ask lots of questions when you visit. "

Sooo, I don't really know. I am going to visit for Presidential Scholar Day, and we'll see how that goes.
