Oldfort and Woody--- yes, most schools' dance teams we talked to had fall tryouts so that incoming freshies could try out. It doesn't seem too welcoming to only have spring tryouts! The capt said we could send a video in but seemed to be very clearly saying that an in-person tryout was much preferred. We'll figure it out... and yes, I'm guessing that the squad has lots of southern Cali girls on it!

My D and her best friend finally landed at ORD, after 3 hours flight delay. On their way to Wildcat Days at Northwestern.

Iglooo -- I think a medal on NLE is worthy of an update, even if it's not a perfect score. There are only several hundred perfect scores world-wide each year. I don't know that I'd send contact just for that (you don't want to bug AdComms with too many small updates), but I'd certainly mention the award if you were writing to them anyway as part of why-I-should-get-in-from-the-waitlist late-spring update.

Mihcal and Lisa, glad your kids are safe and sound. That will be me in less than 2 months as D heads to HK.

Well, contacted Kenyon Re: $. I feel really uncomfortable but Lisabee helped out a lot so thanks. . If that doesn't work maybe I will sell a kidney or something. My D really really wants to send in the deposit and hopefully by the end of the week we can do that.

D has been working a lot and I am very happy for her. She has a checkbook and debit card and is really saving up her money!

lisabees -- What kind of dance? My main advice is don't allow her to go en pointe too soon. Wait till she's done with her main adolescent growth spurt, so her feet have time to strengthen. Also, don't skimp on warmup, cooldown, stretching and core strength exercises -- daily!
