Graduation is over. Just cannot believe we are done. The weather was worrisome... started out ominous. Cold and windy - school band playing Jingle Bells. Then, the sun came out, but the wind was crazy. Graduaton caps flying everywhere...
The rain held off, thankfully. DS walked up to receive his diploma- barefoot?...huh?
Reading his yearbook, I learn that he is known for his dancing skills...what?...who?
So strange... my baby is not my baby anymore, sniff, sniff. Who is this "crazy, funny, dancing fool" they speak of? (I want to snuggle him just a little while longer...)

I am just loving all the graduation stories! We're wrapping up "clean like madpeople" weekend, and starting the general festivities on Tuesday with a mix of excitement and fear. DS has calmed down, though, and his only complaint is that he doesn't want to take part in all the events b/c it takes away from his Finnish study time. Silly boy. :-)

D2 and I just got into a big fight. Long story, but we are both just tired with all the celebrations.
My dad is not feeling well and they are due to fly back home tomorrow.
After all he guests leave, I have to manage the move - turning off cable, internet, phone. Arranging for temporary housing here and in NY, dealing with the immigration, mover...
I am a bit stressed.
But next week this time, I will be sitting at a Club Med beach if nothing goes wrong.

Congrats to all the weekend grads, and now my girl is one of them! Love hearing all the stories and all the great words being said about our kids.
We also had a worrisome weather day, but just before the ceremony the skies turned blue and the sun shone brightly--and like familyof3boys we also had wind issues with caps flying everywhere. But as my girl stood to speak, the wind calmed, and she had no issues with her cap or wind echo in the mic. She did beautifully. I didn't cry except for when the bagpiper lead the procession out and then they went into pomp and circumstance. That killed me. The rest of the time I couldn't stop smiling.
Great time at DMB to celebrate afterward, not home until 12:30 last night. I have a happiness hangover. Now onto the grad party this Saturday...then Tulane orientation...then she's off to Costa Rica and I've got my 30th class reunion!
Loving all the gallery photos! Waiting for my girl's dad to forward me all his professional shots.

wow - Renee, you must be just holding on tight for the ride! I am feeling a bit like I didn't get a weekend this morning and I had that realization that I won't be getting one for another 3 weeks. I've got to keep reminding myself that this is the time of year it's definitely not about me and take my little moments where I can find them (like at 4:30 in the morning over coffee!). I need to ramp up into birthday mode now and still have to get announcements done for graduation.
Well earned vacation, oldfort. Good luck with your move.
familyof3boys: you make me laugh!

I posted in the college class of '14 thread about my procrastinating. I've just shifted into high gear in the graduation prep. The ceremony is this Friday and there a lot to do.
Thanks for posting your grad stories. You're all motivating me to enjoy every minute of this week no matter how emotional it will be.
Mom2m - congrats to your D on the award!

I'm loving all these graduation reports! Congratulations to all of our new grads. At least it's June now so that I can say that it's THIS MONTH.
We were down at Swarthmore this past weekend for Alumni Weekend. They put '16 on S's name tag and he got to field questions from staff at the college and our classmates about whether he was excited, what he was going to study, etc. He had a a great time getting to know the campus a bit better, met the daughter of one of our classmates who will also be starting there in the fall, and met some professors. H and I had a wonderful time reconnecting with classmates. It's a very special place.
I even dragged S to church with me yesterday. That church was an important part of my four years there (I sang in the choir and I was taken in for events like Easter dinner by parishioners because I was so far from home). Also H and I were married there the summer after we graduated.

Congrats to the graduates and award winners.
Graduation is still over two weeks away. D is loving her Senior Experience at the Elementary school. One of the kids in the class she is helping with is the older sibling of one of the girls she has coached in soccer.
Yesterday at church they said goodbye to the seniors by giving them huge personalized laundry bags.
This week we have last soccer practices. For the seniors' last practice we're going to play all the games we played in practice back when they were in kindergarden/first grade.

The graduation party went well. Everyone seemed to have a good time, the weather wasn't too hot, the food was a hit and I am glad it's behind me!

I'll be glad when the party is behind me as well... a little stressy about it this week, but really happy my girl's big sister is being a big help. She's keeping their dad on track for me.

Wow - so much excitement over the weekend! Great reading everything even though it took an hour!
D joined the graduated pool! What a monster ceremony - started at 7:30 but didn't get home till 11pm and we didn't even go eat after. Of course, D spent about 45 minutes after the ceremony taking pictures with her friends.
Down to the graduation party Saturday and getting tickets and rail passes for Europe.
D got her summer work out schedule - if she follows it (and she better), she will be in excellent shape.....I should follow it too, but won't.

S also graduated on Saturday. The day was gorgeous! His GF flew in for the ceremony and H and I took the two of them to a special restaurant to celebrate. It was a great day and I felt like we were able to slow down enough to really absorb it and appreciate the milestone.
Yesterday, S and GF flew out to spend a week with her parents. I'm sure I won't hear a peep from him.

rerunagain - How cool regarding the full circle moments with your S at alumni weekend. Although my DS is not attending my alma mater, he too will be a Terrier, strangely.
Old photos were dug up and provided lots of entertainment at our family party. So cool to watch the cousins grow up into beautiful, successful adults. Oldest niece brought along her BF, who plays D1 lacrosse. DS15 and his friends had so much fun tossing the ball around with him.
Sounds like so many on the thread have cool summer plans. I am a tad jealous of that.
