Good Morning!

This is my first Friday off in a month and of course with the clock ticking on my going full time I never know if this is my last. I really love the time home alone at least for the AM. This afternoon and tomorrow AM I'll be helping with a clothing sale at church. Seven large garbage bags of clothing are packed in the car and ready to go. I asked everyone here to clean out their closets. Sunday I'll be participating in the ALS walk downtown.

HC week at S's school and he is going to the dance. At least at this point. (still have a day or so for plans to implode). I love this kind of stuff, not that we are allowed to take any pictures of him or go when he picks up his date .

(btw- I just got booted off when I tried to post and if this comes up with a weird time I am actually posting at 10:24 AM on Friday).

Home from "Up North" and a few days of girlfriend time. The Holiday House Tour was awesome! I have a day to regroup and then H and I head to the cabin for the weekend and another meeting with the contractor. Hopefully he has sharpened his pencil and made some more reasonable adjustments. Good luck with your "remodel light" Moda!

TA...YAY!!!! So excited for him! WOW! Sending positive thoughts and good karma his way.

missy...thanks for the laugh and I loved the analysis!

Hey...my post is weird too! I am going to repost in the right spot!!! It is really 9:29 Friday morning !!!

goodness! This is SO! Exciting for me as I often am so late to the table due to time change that it feels worthless to post as you have moved on with your lives by the time I am awake. Right now I am awake and on my iPad and messed up due to the time change and remembered my friends here!
D is the loveliest of possible D's. I can wax and wane.
STILL---as nicely as I need to learn it--- wah wah wah---she is an adult and I must let go.
nothing she did but just, yet again, a new stage for me (not for H as He has no idea but just fixes things around the apt.) (the new pool guy will be more understanding ).

Great news about the interview, TA! I bet the company was glad he hadn't already been snatched up and was afraid to wait until spring.

Oregon, tell more...

S2 is very excited. Win or lose (job offer or not), at least he is being given a chance to play--finally. I know he plans to bring his A-game to that interview. Having the invite gives me comfort that there isn't some fatal flaw in his resume that I have been missing and makes me more confident that if this doesn't work out there will be other opportunities in the spring.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high because I still remember S1 being flown out to California for a multi-day interview his senior year and not getting the offer. We were both surprised and shocked at the time. In retrospect, I think the firm would have been a poor cultural fit for S1 and the firm probably realized that. It did all work out for the best in the end, so I will try to keep that attitude alive with S2.

TA, My '13 son interviewed for a couple of internships last year that did not work out. One paid for him to go to Charlotte and put him up in a nice hotel.Had to interview with multiple people. Didn't get the jobs but the interviewing experience was valuable. Same thing as your older son- the jobs my kid didn't get really weren't the best fit. He called after the interview he had with the employer that did end up offering him a job. He even sounded more confident and enthusiastic about this employer than he had about the other two. It really was the best fit for him so things many times do end up working out the way they're meant to. Best of luck to your son!

What does it say that my son's school is not even on that salary list? A tad confusing since it says it's the top schools in the Northeast... Plus.. while Lehigh is a great school, I don't necessarily consider it one of the top. Maybe it's their business school? Not sure, but that list did nothing to quell my fears of s's employment after graduation!!

My sister is going to visit D2 this weekend.... which on the one hand makes me glad because I will get a status report on how's she's doing (since she tells us virtually nothing and when I try to ask open ended questions she gets frustrated that I'm asking questions) but at the same time.. knowing D has a limit for inquiry in general, I am hoping sister doesn't burn her out so when we ask similar questions or whatever, she will still answer! However, she does have a lot going on this weekend with her team, so not sure sister is thrilled about that (including having a dinner to attend tonight).

As for me, I am still waiting to celebrate her name being finally added to the roster. Not there yet. But at least she's "legal."

And I am so sick of this election cycle. What I think is so ridiculous is how much ALL candidates talk about their willingness and ability to work across the aisle and yet....not so much. EVER. It's ridiculous. Seems to me there weren't enough group projects for these people in Middle School! OR!!! Maybe this is what happens when you force people to work in group projects in MIddle School: A revolt of never wanting to compromise with others again!

And not to be political on here... can someone explain separation between church and state to me? How does Ryan get away with saying that it is impossible for him to separate the two for himself. Don't you kinda have to even when it's hard? Doesn't he currently work for the people? It's not like he's working for himself here. I guess I can appreciate the honesty because lots of people probably do this. But .. aren't you supposed to not?

The fact it considers Colorado Schools of Mines a top NE school makes me doubt the accuracy.

TA, well you know D's frustrations on the job/internship etc. hunt. It only takes on interview that clicks. I have no doubt that S2 will nail it.

Breaking news: Big Texas caught fire. He's the giant talking cowboy that is the symbol of the state fair. The video is so surreal.

Modadunn, I wouldn't worry about your son's school not being on that list. There are many "top schools" not listed. I'm sure the list is not meant to be exhaustive. Good luck to him.
