Re: the Stafford Loans...I didn't realize that a parent could take it and park it in an acct. My D11's loans are automatically split and applied by her school each semester top her tuition bill. Because she has skin in the game she has only missed one class in three semesters and that was because she was sick. D13 will also be taking loans....

It's official...DS got his 2nd acceptance to University of Colorado! That's his #2 school and he has to wait till 01/07 for his #1 choice. He's excited but I really don't think the whole idea of leaving home in a year has hit him!

terinzak: Congratulations!!!!

We have a long wait ahead of us for any acceptances. The life of the theatre major is just a different world.

I'll have another glass of wine in your honor that is super frustrating ugadog99

It may be the wine, but I have enterred a nice - don't worry, it will all work out somehow kind of a place. I have beaten DD over the head with my advice and warnings, so now if she is disappointed, well, it really will be all her own doing. I have done what I can. And I love her safety - its the one school that I got on the computer and set up an interview so I knew it would get done. I know she will be disappointed if that is the only school she is accepted at - but its a good school and a good fit.

Wow, this thread is moving fast.

As for meltdown - S is still having writers block when it comes to the Personal Statement. He is in full dress rehearsal for the play and has no time for anything but the play and school. All Oct 15th deadlines are no longer achievable. The last performance is the 14th. He will have to buckle down to meet the Nov 1 deadlines. <<Parent vent>>If this keeps up, he will be living at home and going to the near by University. It is a good school, but I refuse to pay for dorm if he doesn't even apply for a scholarship.

Good news, I took your advice and had Matt send an email to Bama scholarship. They said his scholarship offer was mailed in Sept. So it was probably lost in the mail.

Has anyone else received the mailings from Rose-Hulman? What are they thinking??!!! They have this really ugly old lady cartoon character on there. I thought maybe it was a teenage thing that I didn't get. My sons also thought it was very weird. Nothing that would make one want to apply there! If anyone gets it, please enlighten me!

GreekMana - DS got that and I thought the exact same thing! LOL!! Not the best marketing strategy.

Tonight was the Powder Puff football game and it was so good. Those girls were into it!!! Seniors beat Juniors. DS was responsible for coaching kicking off and extra pt kicks and his team made every one so he was really pleased. I got lots of pictures so hopefully some good ones for his open house!

Good luck to everyone with all of the apps, forms, LORs, transcripts, tests, visits, try-outs, games, meets, classes, practices, performances, dances, jobs and everything else our kids have on their plates! No wonder we/they are so stressed out!

I am in the middle of putting together a senior ad for the yearbook for DS. Any suggestions for a short quote or saying for the dedication?

tx5athome, I looked through previous yearbooks for ideas for a message that was appropriate for our daughter. I'm actually still working on tweaking it, but it at least it got the juices flowing.

teri, congrats on the admission! And congrats to anyone else I've missed.

Better night in our house than last night.

SteveMA, oh, I've had those experiences - you have my sympathies! But glad that it's straightened out and that the acceptances are starting to roll in!

MommyDearest.......toooo funny....Ms Crawford was always a favorite of mine. Even after the book!!

On a good note D has 6 supplement essays done!!! CA essay too.... It's very risky and saids nothing about her but it's a wonderful piece. I didn't know she could write

Now if we only had an acceptance in hand.... I'd be floating on air....
Instead I'm having a migraine over all the financial aid forms..... The CSS is a killer....the FASA doesn't look nearly as bad....
If anyone's has tips. I'm all ears!!!!

Steve.... Glad you solved the mystery.... I wouldn't want to be a teenager in your house tonight

tx5 - I have always loved quotes from Winnie the Pooh - I will definitely use one for my DD. Google "Winnie the Pooh quotes" - there are some really good ones about being a friend and dreaming - not sure if this is the kind of thing you were looking for but take a look - especially if he like Pooh growing up (which my dd LOVED)
